The extraction of the numerous aromatic plants takes place through hot infusion or cold extraction, depending on the raw material, following the methods handed down over the centuries which, together with the formula, constitute the secret of this product.

The process is very thorough and long (some of the botanical components need several months of processing). Once the components have been assembled, a second phase of refinement takes place, which can last a few months, a period necessary for the components to harmonize in the best possible way and release all their fragrance and aromatic intensity. Finally, having passed the quality control phases, the product is ready for bottling. The ancient and original Carpano recipe marries the tradition of the historic Turin company with Branca's centuries-old expertise in the choice, composition and processing of raw materials: the high level of technological innovation takes place in compliance with traditional methods of manufacture, infusion, extraction. Even today, as in the Carpano tradition, there are three people who share the secret of the process and the recipe of this product: one of these is the President of Fratelli Branca Distillerie, Niccolò Branca.

The SAFFRON used in Ancient Formula is of high quality coming mainly from the highlands of Iran and comes in whole stigmas free of impurities, with an average length of 1.5-2 cm. This ingredient is known for its antioxidant properties and for its preciousness: to obtain a kilogram it is necessary to collect - by hand - the stigmas of about 150,000 flowers. In Persia it was used as an aphrodisiac.

The ABSENCE of Antica Formula comes exclusively from the Alps of Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. According to current legislation, the use of absinthe is an essential feature of this product category. This context has a historical foundation. Antonio Benedetto Carpano gave great importance to this raw material present in his recipe. In fact, he used the German word "Wermuth" (which means Absinthe) to identify his product, perhaps inspired by the works of Goethe, who arrived in Italy in 1786, of whom he was very passionate. BURNT SUGAR is a natural compound that, in addition to the botanical components, completes the connotation of the taste of Antica Formula thanks to its characteristic aroma. Burnt sugar is produced by heating simple sugar, without the use of any additives and under controlled conditions

With a bright brown color with amber veins, the vanilla bouquet is accompanied by notes of spices, citrus fruits and dried fruits: almonds, raisins, cloves. In the mouth: the round, rich and vanilla flavor, which takes up the olfactory note, happily combines with the notes of bitter orange, dates, cocoa beans and saffron.
